Champions League Semi Final 1st Leg

When I watched this game last night between Real Madrid and Barcelona I felt that I needed to write about it. El Classico, the biggest game in Spain and it being the Champions League Semi Final it was expected to be a great, end to end, exciting free flowing fixture. It wasn’t able to be great due to the Barcelona players hitting the floor every minute, it wasn’t able to be end to end because Barcelona held possession well and Real Madrid seemed to lack attacking mentality and free flowing, the only thing that was free flowing was the whistle in Wolfgang Starks hand. In my opinion the decision to send off Pepe was ridiculous and that’s what won the game for Barcelona. Not taking anything away from the world’s greatest player Lional Messi who’s got it all, this is also the reason Barcelona won the game.

Barcelona did dominate the game, Real Madrid didn’t make any changes to there approach and Barcelona toyed with Real. I do think Real Madrid would have held on for a draw though Pepe seemed to be the rock in the centre of the field for Real. During the game I thought to myself, if this was a fixture was between the two biggest sides in England I would be embarrassed, the diving was one of the most annoying things I’ve ever watch and when the players watch the replays they’ll probably cringe. Barcelona for me are the best team in the world but if it’s a Man United v Barcelona final I would love to see Barcelona be bossed about and for once the referee not to be drawn to the over reacting of these players hopefully show the yellow card the correct man.

The final score was Real Madrid 0 Barcelona 2, Messi getting both of the goals.
