cruise Al Rayyan to a comfortable win

(AFZAL SHAIKH) June 28, 2007 –
Ali Hamad led
Al Rayyan win their second match Thursday in
the ongoing Volleyball Golden Formula (VGF)
taking place at the Al Arabi Sports Club.
Recently
crowned Emir Cup Champion, Al Rayyan found
difficulty in the first game against the
spirited Al Arabi, they lost the game 15-25.
But season's
best club bounced back to take the second
25-23 in an exciting game which lasted for
21 mins.
The third
game was quite a comfortable win (25-18) for
Al Rayyan as their spikers were right on
top, successfully spiking the ball pass Al
Arabi blockers. However, Al Arabi took six
consecutive points when the scores were
11-20 but failed to hold the champions. Al
Rayyan players held on to their nerves and
took three quick points and eventually the
game.
In an
interesting fourth game, the two teams moved
neck-to-neck, but it was the much
experienced and the better team Al Rayyan
which finally got home with 25-23 win.
Al Rayyan
having lost their only match against Qatar
SC on the opening day 3-2, got back strongly
in the competition to register their second
and third match win, in the second match
they beat Al Ahli 3-0 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Al
Arabi suffered their first setback of the
competition against Al Rayyan, earlier they
beat Al Ahli (3-1) and Qatar SC 3-0. |
