Doha
to host Men’s & Women’s Club World
Volleyball Championships in December
DOHA,
January 27, 2010 – The Qatar Volleyball
Association is pleased to announce that the
International Volleyball Association, FIVB
has awarded Doha the rights to host the
Men’s & Women’s Club World Volleyball
Championships for three years in a row.
“We are pleased and honoured to be entrusted
by the International Volleyball Association
to host the Men’s & Women’s Club World
Volleyball Championships in Doha for 3 years
in a row,“ said Mr. Faraj Muftah Al-Abdulla
Secretary-General of Qatar Volleyball
Association.
“The utmost support of H.H. The Heir
Apparent, President of Qatar Olympic
Committee and the outstanding organisation
of the last Men’s Club World Volleyball
Championships in Doha in November 2009 make
the dream comes true,” he added.
About eight men’s clubs will participate in
the men’s event (5 continental Champions),
two wild card to be nominated jointly by the
Qatar Volleyball Association, International
Volleyball Federation and the Host TV
Broadcaster (Al–Jazeera ) and the champion
of the host and six women’s champions will
participate in the women’s event (5
continental Champions and the champion of
the host or one wild card to be nominated
jointly by the Qatar Volleyball Association,
International Volleyball Federation and the
Host TV Broadcaster (Al–Jazeera).
Dr. Abdulla Al-Mal, QVBA President will lead
the Qatari delegation together with the Host
TV Broadcaster (Al–Jazeera) to sign the
contract with the FIVB in Lausanne on
Saturday, February 27, 2010. |
