SC, Al Arabi register wins on opening day of
test event

(AFZAL SHAIKH) June 26, 2007 – Qatar SC and
Al Arabi registered wins on the opening day
of the Inaugural Volleyball Golden Formula (VGF)
Test Championship being played at the Al
Arabi Sports Club on Tuesday.
In the first match which kicked off at
5:00pm, Qatar stunned Al Rayyan 3-2 in the
biggest upset of the day. The scores were
28-26, 23-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-8.
Al Rayyan was declared as the best club of
the season as they were the first club to
win all the three titles (Qatar League, HH
the Heir Apparent and HH the Emir Cup) in
one season.
Al Arabi trounced Al Ahli 3-1 (25-20, 23-25,
25-21, 25-17) in the second match.
The four participating teams were given
theoretical and practical demonstrations on
Sunday and Monday by Hussein Imam, Technical
Director of Qatar Volleyball Association and
the mastermind of VGF at the Al Arabi SC.
